Inspirational Monday: Love Cafe – Cafe Converso

Well after spending the whole day trying to upload the Inspirational Monday I can relate to Thomas Edison when he said “ I have not failed. I’ve just found 10000 ways that won’t work.”  I found it hard today to keep pressing on but I believe that this story is so important and I want to others to see how doing something so simple like smiling or being welcoming can make the world a better place.  After doing this all day though, I am very excited to leave the hostel and go in search of something with lots of chocolate! Andres and Diana, the owners of Cafe Converso, declared themselves my first friends in Bogota and they may never know how much that meant to me.  They helped me to feel welcome and loved when I was wondering if I was doing the right thing. I will be forever grateful to them for helping me to remember why I am doing this and for reminding me of what I know to be true – there are good people everywhere, we just have to be brave enough to seek them out! Today is family day back home.  My mom prayed for me before I left that I would find family everywhere I went and I believe I have found it here in Colombia.

  1. Hey Kathryn! This was great, they do seem like really cool people. I’m glad they met God and are doing something positive!

    • I think what stood out the most to me was how important it is to make sure people feel welcomed and loved. Good reminder.

  2. Hello Kate,

My friend Andrés told me about your video of Café Converso, and when I saw it, I felt something very special. First because I know them, so I was happy that you found one of the most amazing people here… and that they gave you hope in your project… they’re always inspiring as the title of your videos, and the fact that you meet with them will make them continue in that way, of what they do. Second, I was very inspired about your trip, I’m glad to see that there are always courageous people everywhere that still believe in the goodness of other people, and the big value of their “little” actions on wherever place or space they are. Sure, there will be others inspired to start something and to start now! hidden histories like this could create possibilities in people’s hearts. Be blessed on your trip! I’ll keep on watching!

    • Thank you Catalina for your kind words. They really are some of the most amazing people I have ever met. I feel very blessed to have started the first day of my trip in such a positive way and with people that were so welcoming to me!
