Refugees: Positive News
There has been a lot of news about the refugee crisis over the last year both in Europe and here in Canada. However, there are also stories of amazing generosity, innovation and inspiration amid all of chaos that need to be shared. Continue reading
Paris: Stories of Courage & Humanity
In the wake of the tragedy in Paris there have been many stories that insight fear and hate. Over the past week my goal has been to share a different perspective. I asked others to help me cast a light on people who showed courage and demonstrated the best that we as humans have to offer. The good news is that the stories have abounded. Often times people ask me if sharing positive news means ignoring the negative and I believe these stories show that it is possible to be informed yet to shift the perspective towards the hopeful.
Here are some of the stories we have uncovered this week: Continue reading

We decided to offer a VIP Voting Experience to any first time voter living in our riding. We sent out a Facebook post advertising our offer for a VIP voting experience and sat back and waited to see if anyone would take us up on our offer. Good News You May Have Missed in 2014
As we reflect back on 2014, it’s important to realize that amidst many of the sad and negative news stories we were bombarded with there are also many hopeful and inspiring stories. These stories often do not get their share of the spotlight since we are all too eager to turn to more sensational tales. As we return to work and school after the holidays, we have the opportunity in conversations with our colleagues, friends and family to shed a light on the good that happened in the past year. I like to think of it as a challenge when people bring up the negative stories to try and counter with an amazing positive story. In the spirit of that challenge here are five of the most talked about news stories of 2014 and an inspiring positive news alternative. Continue reading
New Book Arrives!
I am so excited to announce the arrival of my new book: Passport Project! The premiere edition was launched at TEDxYYC and on the CBC Eye-Opener. It has been exciting to hear about people using the book with their families, as team-building with their co-workers and on their own to explore their city!
All too often we think that we can only have an adventure if we go away to an exotic location. It is easy to feel depressed or bored when we aren’t learning or growing or meeting new people. This book was created so you could explore right in your own city and have amazing adventures and experiences that would remind you that life is awesome! There are so many exciting and inspiring people and places to see and meet. By expanding our worldviews we can break down barriers, misunderstandings and stereotypes and build bridges towards peace. I hope that by completing these challenges you will be inspired to share your positive stories. By sharing our positive stories we can combat mental health issues and become inspired to make positive change in our communities.
If you would like to purchase a copy of the book it is available for purchase at Shelf Life Books in Calgary. We will have a limited number of books available for purchase as we travel across Canada as well. If you would like to make a bulk order of the books please send us an email and we will arrange to have copies shipped to you.
